Wow! Today was a great day!
Illustrator Robert Rodriguez just emailed me these vegetables ads from Birds Eye that Charles E. White did back in the 70's. I still haven't found the actual Birds Eye Spitfire Ad but seeing these images brought back those fond memories as an illustrator assistant to Don Ivan Punchatz in the mid 70's. I barely remember the Pirate and the Bunny ones.

I don't generally look at what's wrapped around what I eat at Fast Food Joints but the graphix on my Dairy Queen ice cream cone wrapper made me look twice. I like the stylized illustration of the cone with the simple colors and the radiating background. The white dotted fade off the red DQ logo is simple and bold. Even the "Put in Trash"icon works.

Here is McDonald's cone wrapper and it's designy swirls are nothing to write home about. Though I do like the Clown "Put in Trash" icon.

The one from Sonic has soft colors but not that well designed.
