When I was asked by Art Director, Cynthia Wahl of The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram to do the top illustration for an article on the SWSX Conference. I recalled Mick Haggerty's Kissing Cacti and it pretty much was subliminally there!

Influenza! Mick Haggerty

Copyright © 2008 Mick Haggerty

One of the best Graphic Designers of all times is Mick Haggerty. He made me see illustration in a whole new way back in the late 70's and early 80's. He influenced my conception of designing my illustrations with style and flare. His worx are remarkable and uniquely his own.
His website, Mixworks is one of my favorites too! Pure visual. The artworx describe themselves.

I still have his 3-D calendar he gave me.

This is an incredible bit of vintage Dutch inspiration. I have no idea where I got it but it's worth sharing the visual.
It has such a great Geometrix feel to it and of course, robots churning butter!
The choice of colors is incredible.

Holy Jesus Comix!

Copyright © J. T. Chick.

This site is a bit too religious for most but some of the covers and inside art are quite well done @ chick.com.
I first spotted one of these "tracts" (The Sissy?) when I first went to TCU back in 1973.
I still have it and will always keep it as an inspiration. Look's like Nestor Redondo might have illustrated the inside but I don't know.

They do however condemn everything and everybody not of Chick's religion.

Hey, I'm not trying to be PC here. Just showing you how anything can damn your soul for ART!

Looking for Mr. Goodbar!
