One of the most influential artists of my early years was Filipino comic book Illustrator, Alex Niño. He had a certain mystical flare to his pen strokes and his worx for DC Comics and Marvel Comics were always dark and daring.
I started out from High School wanting to be a Comic Book Artist. Imitating Alex Niño's Style was one of the first steps to my own self-awareness as an illustrator.

You Dropped a Bomb on Me, Speed Racer!

I'm an avid fan of the famous anime, Speed Racer of the 60's but after watching the new Movie version by the Wachowski Bros. for Warner Bros., I am sick to my stomach.
It's candy coated CGI world was so saccharin I had to immediately take an Insulin shot so as not to go into a coma.
Doesn't anyone know how to act, write, or direct anymore? Emile Hirsch as Speed Racer was as plastic and two dimensional as the original. Only standouts are John Goodman as Pops Racer and Benno Fürmann as Inspector Detector.

The Wachowski Brothers have dropped an H-Bomb and it has left a mushroom cloud of stink in the air.
